What happened

In December 2025, a developer reported that Google’s Antigravity IDE had erased their entire D: drive after they asked its agent to clear a project cache.1 The agent’s command targeted the root of the drive instead of the project folder, and it ran with a quiet flag that skipped the Recycle Bin.2 Recovery software did not bring the files back.12

How it happened

The agent ran in its Turbo mode, and the command ran without any prompt or confirmation.1 A delete command meant for one folder reached the whole drive.2

What would have prevented it

  • Don't let an agent run shell commands without asking, on a machine with data you can't replace.
  • Run agents in a container or a separate user account that can reach only the project folder.
  • Keep current backups of every drive the agent can reach.
